Mission

Tucson Tri Girls is a female triathlon club in Tucson, Arizona. Our goal is to provide female triathletes of all levels and abilities with training partners, a team atmosphere, sponsorship benefits, training programs, events and advice to help our members achieve their goals. We hope to make this sport more accessible, more affordable, and more rewarding for all women who choose to participate in triathlon.
Our club members range in age from 18 to 75. Many women have not yet completed their first triathlon, while others have completed dozens. We have members who have won races, and others who are thrilled just to finish their race. We are a very diverse group of women, with different backgrounds, different schedules, and different athletic goals. What we share is a love of the sport, and a desire to achieve our goal.

History
Tucson Tri Girls began as an informal email list for female triathletes seeking training partners. The email list was created in April, 2003. At the Tucson Triathlon, the club founders began to recognize familiar faces from past triathlons. Several women exchanged contact information and a small group was formed. They began cycling together regularly and they used the email list to coordinate their weekly rides. In May, they posted fliers at area bike shops and gyms to advertise the group. Very quickly, Tucson Tri Girls grew to more than 50 members. The club's inaugural meeting was held on June 30, 2003 at which time members established the club's mission and goals. In September, 2003, the club voted to formalize the group as a nonprofit organization and selected a seven member board of directors. Currently, 500+ people are subscribed to our email list and 150+ women have joined the club. TucsonTriGirls is now a nonprofit corporation.
